You want to go to sleep, but you can't fall asleep because some light is coming in through the small window. You've been thinking about darkening this window for a while, but you keep putting it off. You already bought the blackout curtain a month ago, but now it still needs to be hung. On Helprr you can post this task, a handy neighbor comes to help, and you can check the task off your list! Is this a familiar picture? You're not the only one who puts these kinds of things off.

Research

Before Centraal Beheer started with Klusup, a place to find a professional handyman, they conducted research in collaboration with directresearch. The central question was: how long do tasks stay on average in Dutch households.

Eight out of ten respondents indicate in the research that tasks such as laying baseboards stay on average for 2 years. Additionally, 16% of these people indicate that they put off these tasks for up to 4 years. Putting things off is something everyone does sometimes when they hate it, but it's sometimes nice to be able to check off delayed to-dos from your list.

It's therefore also remarkable that tasks stay on average for 2 years while more than half (64%) of the respondents hate procrastinating. And of this group, half actually get into arguments with their partner.

Which tasks stay on the list the longest?

Just as we did market research before Helprr was conceived, Centraal Beheer also did this. Just like our findings, the majority (61%) of people indicate that they want to use an app or website to get help solving their tasks. The main reason is that people don't have the time for their tasks. The top 5 tasks that stay on the list the longest are:

  • Painting walls and whitewashing ceilings
  • Laying baseboards
  • Hiding electrical cables
  • Hanging lamps and shelves
  • Caulking the bathroom

Do you also have such a task that you never get around to? Then immediately create an account and post your first task or help a neighbor out. If you have questions or comments, you can always check our FAQ or leave a message.

You've posted your task, but you're not getting the response you want? To improve this, there are a number of tips you can do to highlight your task more. You can find these tips in our blog.
